Why is the Work Unframed?

My artwork is offered unframed for several very good reasons. Most important, choosing a frame to match your environment is a personal choice. A frame that looks good in my home or office may well look out of place in style or colour in your home or office. The wide range of styles, from minimalist to highly ornate, gives each of us plenty of choices, and these are best made by the person who owns the art.

Shipping a framed piece of art is cumbersome and expensive, and there is an increased risk of damage to both frame and artwork. If you've ever opened a highly-anticipated package and found glass shards embedded in both frame and artwork, you'll understand why this type of disappointment is to be avoided whenever possible.

Finally, I am not a specialist in framing and, when possible, I would prefer to leave this task to framing professionals rather than present my works in inexpensive generic frames from the local crafts store.

HOWEVER --- there may be exceptions to this general policy, if it is your wish! If you have a strong need for a framed piece, perhaps to be delivered directly to the recipient of a gift, etc., please let me know what you need and I will find a way to make it work for you.
